Angels Update- New shoot dates.

We have had a great response to the Angels request. Thank you all. I appreciate all of those that have sent pictures and stories. I have decided to change how I'm casting this part.

If you would like to do it, we'll give you a shot. If you have already been invited, please follow the instructions below anyways. We will not be using all of the angels shots that we take, but at least it'll give everyone a chance to really audition.

Here are some general requirements though...

Please only respond if you meet these requirements:

1.) Naturally dark skin and features.
2.) Between 20-50 years old
3.) Athletic and graceful, able to flip around on a trampoline in a dress, while looking totally calm.
4.) Available during the day. Cannot be picky about times.

We'll be shooting the first week of April, probably Wednesday April 1- Friday April 3 in Mesa, AZ. If you are interested, please email Dixie at mstudiosproduction@mac.com.

She will be scheduling in 10 minute increments beginning at 9:00 AM each day.

Angels.

Hi All,

I've begun casting for our next shoot, which will take place in Central America. Most of my casts are from down there, but I'm shooting an angelic portion here in AZ. I've got female angels pretty well covered, but I need some male ones all ages from 17 up. Here are some of the requirements:
  • Must be relatively athletic and basically graceful
  • Must have dark hair.
  • Must have dark skin. Those of polynesian, african,  or latin heritage would work great.
The shoot will take place in Mesa, AZ. Volunteers must be available during the day on either March 25-26, 2009.

Please respond by email to markmabry@mac.com with a full length picture and headshot, (doesn't need to be professional) and basic ht/wt measurements. Also include a paragraph about why you'd like to participate.

Thanks,

Mark

Oh Canada.

The exhibit that has been in northern Alberta and Edmonton is going well. Thank you for all of the wonderful emails and experiences that have been shared. If any of those that have been to the exhibit in Canada would like to comment on this post it would be wonderful to hear about it.

Mark will be speaking in Red Deer, Alberta on Feb 21.

That exhibit will be heading south in March. It is due back in the States in mid-April for a Pacific Northwest stop!

We have about a month in between and I'm wondering if someone in Calgary or the Cardston area would like to schedule an exhibit stop. We've gotten several emails expressing interest from that region. If so, please see the exhibit requirements on the website and email us ASAP.

Thank you.

Exihibit still on!!!

The Reflections of Christ exhibit will still be on display in spite of the rain.  We have moved our exhibit inside the Mesa Art Center.  We are featuring live performances from Clyde Bawden and Fred Ashby.  The Ikeda Theater there seats 200 people at a time for those who would like to view the movie. So if you are looking for a great way to bring in the Christmas spirit and spend time with your out of town families tonight, come on out to the MESA ART CENTER for the Reflections of Christ exhibit!

Thank you.

We're so grateful to all of those who have responded to our initial print offering. It's been so fun to see what people love. My favorite question has always been "what's your favorite?" Now, I'm kind of seeing a couple of general favorites.

For those that didn't get the email... Until Dec 10th we are offering 20% off online orders of prints or the sheet music for "Come Thou Fount". When checking out, simply type in the word "reflections" in the coupon code area in the payment screen.

Thank you again for making this exhibit possible.

What's your favorite? (really, answer by commenting)

A rambling invitation from Mark.

"Reflections of Christ" has become all consuming for me in so many ways. Most of my day is spent responding to inquiries, making prints for people, and working on our other projects (a different topic for a different post) . For me, the best part is to hear, and see, stories of people as they react to the strait-forward artistic attempts that make up this project. I'm perfectly aware that people are reacting to the subject matter- The Savior- and not necessarily any artistic brilliance.  Through the use of  photography many of the frills that we've gotten used to in portrayals of the Savior have been scaled back. The viewer is left with a very organic visual experience.

The newness of the art form elicits comments. Most are short and very sweet. A few others have been short and antagonistic. Some are such powerful stories that they have changed my life.

People of  Christian faiths from all over the world,  Catholic to Baptist, Born-again to Pentecostal, LDS to Methodist, and the occasional atheist (hopefully "former atheist"), have commented along the same lines. Each person expressing a yearning to remain close to, or return to, the Savior.  This aspect has been so refreshing, I wish everyone had a chance to see it.

So  that's what I'm proposing. Without overtly blatant faith specific references I'd love to hear your story. Did this project catch you at a time when you really needed to think about Him for 6 minutes? Did you 5 year old enjoy it? Which image is your favorite? Just share.   You may remain anonymous if you choose. If they're non-offensive, I'll keep them posted for everyone to enjoy. If you video it, all the better. I'll embed it.

Make an ordeal out of it if you'd like, people would love to hear.

Thank you for indulging me.

TV Commercial.

I've been thrilled with our publisher Deseret Book. They have given "Reflections of Christ" very high priority this year and have been instrumental in allowing the exhibit to tour the country at such low cost to those that host it. Recently they produced a TV spot... Enjoy.
